Mediafire links are now working again for BT customers in the UK.
I am now copying all 52Gig of files from Mediafire to a seperate server that is totally seperate from my forums VPS.

I will use the files as a back-up if Mediafire goes down or is ever blocked again.

      Can I do the following?
Can I set up another instance of my vbulletin forum as an emergency back-up if my VPS goes down?
It would only be available on the internet if the VPS goes down and I have turned the emergency back-up forum on.

Also meant to ask, can .htaccess be set-up to work with more than 1 user name?

So 100 user names and 1 password?

And can that log-in be logged?
      Regards
      Trevor

You'll end up turning the computer off when going to bed, so you might as well forget it.
I currently have 2 servers running full time in my garage, a desktop that's run full time in my bedroom, and a laptop (that just sleeps after a couple hours), and I don't ever think of bad things happening like you state. But maybe that's just me. The servers have been running 24/7 (with the exception of power outages) for over 2 years now, and I've always had my desktop on 24/7 (monitor goes off after 10 min, but everything else is up) for as long as I can remember.

But hey, the OP appears to have his problem fixed, so all is good.

If you've been running them for 2 years 24/7. I would think about giving them a good service, cleaning all dirt and fluff away from internal fans. You'll be surprised how much cooler your PC's will run doing that regular every 3 months, along with extending the lifespan of the PC components themselves. I have temp gauges showing me Motherboard and CPU temp, and it doesn't take long before seeing temp creeping up high when pushing your PC due to accumulated dust on fans not cooling things down proper.

Thanks, I quite liked the idea but was warned that BT would probably not be impressed with that and that I would be breaking the terms of our contract.
I could switch to a business account with BT but this is all getting way out of hand for a small specialist forum.

Can anyone help with the questions I had above?
            Regards
            Trevor

              Yes.

Yes, but technically it's 100 usernames and 100 passwords per protected directory (100 lines in your htaccess) but all the passwords are the same.

              Not sure.

You could use the same password for each person, but you'd still have to add 100 usernames and 100 passwords I think, not 100 usernames and 1 password. Not sure though?
