[Forum] Forums acting a bit slow to load entire page after server move.

Ever since i moved servers from my old host to the new one...i noticed that load times have been a bit slower as if the page hangs. After turning on debugging, indeed what i thought was true. This is the error I am getting from Internet Explorer. The page loads but it seems to be hanging a bit. Like at the bottom it will say something like <the forums url> completed 32 of 35 items. Any ideas?

I should point out that, in general, things look like they are a bit laggy and hangs trying to load the page. Some other tasks such as Pruning threads results in an initial delay in response.

This error happens on almost every single page in the forums.

I never had these issues on my previous host.

Please help.

I think from another thread you have a chat/shout installed? If I'm right try disabling it for now... otherwise anything new added? Who was the old host and who is the new host if you don't mind me asking?

Edit: If they thought your site was a resource hog or for example if yous on a shared server w/ others it's quite possible they throttled your bandwidth - I'm unsure if anything of this nature is actually taking place but it can and some will do so w/o notifying you.

NO i do not have a chat/shout installed. Nothing new added when comparing old set up to new set up. If anything, some plugins removed.

Ok i need to add this.

It only happens when i have not logged in. (So basically as a guest) Once i login, and even to the point when i log in i get the error message warning. But once I'm logged in...no more errors!. But once i log out (again, error message even pressing log out) all the error messages start to come back again.

So, this seems to be only happening as a guest. Any ideas? (all plugins disabled for this test)

Per your PM, please forward the URL of your site over so I can see the error in action (never mind, I overlooked that in the PM, I have that now simply a regular user/pass), then simply a test username/password for a normal type of account so I can see the site w/o the error as this may help me figure it out.

Have you inquired w/ the creator of your custom style about a update? It looks like your running a 100% custom style OR a paid one that you have customized further. With 4.2.0 a few things changed and reverting the navbar and header templates could sort this however it might require more updating to the style so I would start by asking for a updated style .xml compatible with vBulletin 4.2.0 OR having someone update the style.

If you create a 100% new and default style, with the style allowed to be selectable by user and visiting the site as a guest, do the errors persist in the new style?

I will create a test user account. Sorry the custom skins were just added today...the error was occurring even with the default skin. Please check your PM in a few minutes.

In my opinion, it's either some form of plugin or code you've added (possibly at one point in time to merge wordpress & vBulletin) OR your site has been hacked, I've never seen a login process do that and some of the code I viewed is not normal so what you should do is have someone give the site a good "once over" to ensure nothing bad has actually happened, that all files are clean and only the files required are in place and the same thing goes for all your modifications and plugins as well.

I don't use wordpress at all. All files were uploaded fresh as a new install..the only thing that was restored was the database. The plugins were then manually installed again. With all the plugins disabled i am still getting the errors.

Our site was indeed hacked a little while ago but everything was cleared up...this probably is more something to do with the server transfer over. Keep in mind, it didn't have these issues on my old host.

and i just noticed something very interesting. I noticed that this error only happens on the original DEFAULT skin. The skin adds ons that i made earlier today doesnt have the errors.

Further update.

Deleting this skin and just creating a new skin resolved the issue.

I guess the default skin was somehow corrupted during the server database migration.

Yes it appears our site went through similar hacking tactics...although the hackers were able to obtain a current Admins username and password and didn't create one....so a little different.

For the password protected .htaccess recommendation...does it work on NGINX (believe my host uses Nginx with Apache running also in the background)??
