Using tools.php on a local server

I've copied my vBulletin 4.2.2 forum to a local computer running MAMP (this is the first time I've tried this). I've got the database set up and can get to the front forum page and admin login page. I'm unable to login to the forum because I haven't set up the correct paths for the MAMP server version and I can't login to the admin area to finish setting the correct paths for the MAMP server. When I login I'm presented with the login page again. I've been able to run tools.php to fix this problem when moving servers online. But I'm unable to load tools.php on my local server -- I just get a blank white page.

Obviously I need to do something different for the local server to load the tools.php page, but I'm not sure what to do. I've checked the database tables looking for a clue, but can't find anything there that might be helpful.

Does anyone know what I'm missing?

After using the all-powerful Google machine, I discovered that the "Install" directory has to be in the forum's root for the "tools.php" to work.

Once again, all is good in the kingdom.
