[CMS] 82 seconds between pushing the download vbulletin button and the actual download!!

    Hi.
Why does it take vbulletin.com 82 seconds to give me my downloadable?

I pushed the download vbulletin 4... suite and started a stop watch.

It took 82 seconds for the "SAVE" pop-up to come up.

    Why so long?

I just found out today that the package that you are downloading is compiled each time you click the Download button in the Member area. That's why it takes so long.

the1, we know the package is compiled on the fly......... but 82 seconds is still way too much for that!

Could be that a new version was just released and a lot of people are trying to download it at the same time?

82 Seconds loss of your life time? That's indeed outrageous.
If you have 100 licenses it makes more than 2 hrs. What a waste of your valuable time.
          Life is really, really hard.

When you sell such an expensive script klh, you provide the servers and network connection required to deliver quality fast downloads. When a free service such as anything from google is 10X faster and better than yours, there is a problem.

LOOOL no I only have two, but I still don't like that I have to wait 82 seconds to start downloading a script I am paying very expensive ......

Paying customers deserve better than what vbulletin is providing.

klh......... there are plenty of solutions for companies that have regular punctual very high load of their servers, such as when updates are released and many thousands of downloads are needed immediately.

If there is a high demand, the server takes a bit. There are several thousand files that need to be compiled and have your custom changes made to before being generated for you.

waiting 80 seconds for your member download is hardly anything to get fussy about

Because there are hundreds of files that need to be pulled out of SVN, edited to fit your license, and then compressed into a ZIP file.
