VB 4.2.2 PL1 Attachments not working in quickreply

When adding an attachment in quickreply, it doesn't display as it should. I'm using the 0 byte version of the uploader.swf file (as supplied in the file).

The file uploads and shows up just fine when you're creating the reply. Everything looks fine.

When you click "post" the image disappears, and instead it says "Attachment 12345" rather than displaying the image.

Try using this patched file for the swf uploader (it was patched by a customer).

Start with that and see if it improved anything, I suspect it's something else though.

I'd been using that (and it worked). Upgraded to V 4.2.2. PL1 and the problem showed up.

Thinking the patched version of the uploader was the issue, I then re-installed the 0 byte version that's included with v.4.2.2. PL1. It only allows you to upload a single photo as an attachment in quickreply. However, the problem i mentioned above still shows up.

Patched version of the uploader should work fine, it works ok on my site, however please try this.

Add the following line to your config.php under the <?php line:
        PHP Code:
        define('SKIP_ALL_ERRORS'true);

Mark, you're missing what the issue is.

The Uploader DOES work, either one.

The photo upload and appears (small sized) as you edit the message. So far, so good, it _looks_ like it's going to work fine.

However... When you actually post the message, the image is not visible. It is there, but not as a thumbnail, it's a link.

You also cannot "manage" the attachment if you click on the icon to edit the message and use the "manage attachments" link.

          See the results here:
          http://www.gardenforums.com/forum/sh...in-quick-reply

Several tests, both uploaders, same results.

This seems to be relatively new. I had it working fine with the patched uploader until I installed 4.2.2 PL1

Add the following line to your config.php under the <?php line:

              Done, No change.

Is this a new install, or was it upgraded from an earlier version?

Upgraded from an earlier version. As noted above, prior to install VB 4.2.2 PL1 I'd been using the modded uploader.swf file and everything worked fine.

Now it exhibits the behavior shown above no matter which version of uploader.swf I use.

OK, some more testing has revealed it works, occasionally, and seemingly at random....

As an example, the dog image worked once, (post 13) but when I uploaded it again (duplicate images are allowed) it doesn't work (post 16) What I mean by "doesn't work" is that they don't show up inline. The image is there, and if you click on the "attachment" link you can view it, but it doesn't show up in line like it should.

Check that you're actually uploading a second copy, and not simply reusing the previous one....the asset manager allows you to select previous attachments but these won't show inline. Attachments will only show inline on the post they were originally made in.

No, I was re-uploading them. But now I've discovered something else. The attachments aren't staying around, and now when I click on the attachment link, it says "Invalid Attachment Specified".

This thing is starting to seem very familiar, but I can't put my finger on it. But it really seems like I've been through this before, attachments not showing in line and only being in temporary storage and going away before long. Wish I could recall more details...

Wondering if I'm running into this issue?

A bit more info. This seems to be pretty random, but it's also acting like something is "getting plugged up". Occasionally, I can upload an image via quickreply and have it work. Then, when I try again, no such luck.

I went and changed "View Images Inline" from "Full Sized" to "Thumbnails" and once again, I was able to upload a single image before it stopped working again. This may be a clue?

I've started having the exact same issue. When I try to upload an image using the quick reply, it shows fine in the editor, but when you click reply, it only leaves "Attachment xxxx". When I click the link myself, it works for a short time. But if anybody else clicks the link, they get "Invalid Attachment specified. If you followed a valid link, please notify the administrator". Uploading images via the full editor works fine.
