[CMS] Avatar thumbs in CMS as unknown

I was using 4.1.6 and upgraded into 4.1.8, since then the avatar thumbs have been working strange. First it was forum sidebar and cms recent threads widget.

I did clear my cache, entered update counters and rebuild custom avatars, the avatars were made and available in the server.

It seems that the forum sidebar works fine now, but the cms is not. Sometimes, when I enter, the avatar is shown correctly, but once i browse the site and go back, the image is set as default unknown avatar. It does link to the user profile, but the image is actually the misc/unknown.gif file.

Thought I had the same issue as:

    Already did this:

Custom Avatar Thumbnails in Admincp > Maintenance > Update Counters

Settings -> Options -> Server Settings and Optimization Options -> Safe Mode Upload to YES

    Unfortunately, it hasn't worked.

Also, the default vbstyle works the same.

    Site is live at anizeen.com

    Thanks

I have the same issue... but is being caused by thumbs not being created in the ./customavatars/thumbs directory.... Running Rebuild Custom Avatar Thumbnails goes through with no errors but only updates the avatars in ./customavatars and doesnt create anything in the ./customavatars/thumbs directory...

All permissions are set to allow apache (as folder owner),anyone in the apache group and others to read and write that directory...

I have temporarily resolved this by serving avatars from the database... but I want to be able to store them as files....

The issue is being caused by the page looking for avatar thumbnails in ./customavatars/thumbs when they are not being created and stored in this location....

It seems to be the same issue as steven s, and it has to be related to 4.1.7 or 4.1.8, it was working well before.

I'm on 4.4.11 and my customavatar/thumbs directory is empty and running the Rebuild in Maintenance doesn't fix this at all. The directory is writable, too.

Well, now -- after 30 mins -- my customavatar/thumbs have shown up. I guess it takes some time for the server to create the thumbs. Now the thumb directory is populated and working.
