    Retroactive setting of user option

Users, up until now on my forum, have had a default setting of "receive private messages = yes", but I just changed this default to "no". Is there a way to change all the previously-registered users to "no" too, without having to change each one manually?

You need to be using a super administrator account with permission to run queries enabled in the config.php file.

Go to Admin CP -> Maintenance -> Execute SQL Query, and from the top drop down box that should be one of the pre-configured queries.

Ok. Well I'm the only admin and I don't seem to have permission. Is it a hosting config change?

You need to edit the /includes/config.php file... in it is a line for users that can run quires- it's in the area of super-administrators and unalterable users- you will need to add your userid to the list of userids who can run queries. By default none are listed.
