[CMS] Photos (attachments) load very slow

The site (forum+CMS) is very fast, I host it on a dedicated quad box with 12 gigs of ram etc. any page I visit usually loads in 1-2 seconds. The problem is, photos onpage load is very high. The page loads in full and the photo displays slowly, like it has 10 mb or something. All photos have max 100k, with few above 150k. My connection is 20mb and other users are experiencing the same problem. The forum has very low trafic and the server loads are minimal..running Apache 2.x, PHP 5 etc. I made a comparison with a Wordpress site which has alot of traffic (also owned by me, on another dedicated server with same config) and the photos load instantly, and usually they are bigger. I know vBulletin doesn't create thumbnails now in CMS but even if the photo has 100k, it should take 10 secs to load it right?

Did you try moving your attachments to file system?
