Hi, I am getting targeted by spammers at my newish forum http://theinternetforum.org version 4.1.7 It has a handy delete posts as spam/ban member facility. Last night I got hit by about 90 spam posts and when I used that feature it said it only works if less than 50 posts and to delete posts from admin panel, how do you do this?

Admin CP > Threads and Posts > Prune > scroll down to Prune by Username. Enter the name, choose your forum(s), and prune. -
You may also want to turn on the question/answer functionality to help fight spam.
Admin CP -> Settings -> Human Verification ManagerComment

Q&A is far more effective. It is particularly helpful if you can create questions that would probably only be known by people interested in your particular topic.Comment

re spam
That seems to have stopped them from registering, but the ones that have already rgistered and been banned are still able to log in, but not to post, they just get error messages. can I stop them logging in?Comment

Once you have deleted all of their posts you may just want to delete the users. Be sure to delete the posts first or it will be harder to prune the spam after you delete them.Comment

Don't use the ban function. Instead you want to delete their posts and then delete the spam accounts.Comment

re spam
I have deleted the spam accounts now and they are repeatedly trying to log in as guests now and getting an error message because the account doesn't exist, definately robots.Comment
