[Forum] Change title (and URL) for thread - will search engines update?

I would like to change the title of the most popular thread on our site. This will also change the URL (using vBSEO). Will search engines automatically find and update with the new URL? I think any existing links anywhere else will automatically redirect to the new URL, right?

Or do I need to add a redirect in htaccess?

They will update eventually. When they updated depends on how important they determine your site to be and when the next indexing cycle is.

Thnaks Wayne. I noticed the forum itself will automatically forward to the new URL. Somewhere, there must be a redirect already? At least the old thread link (posted on other sites) won't cause any Page not Found errors and forward to the new URL automatically. http://saabworld.net/f29/double-din-...vic-f700bt-84/

We don't provide support fro vBSEO, so that's not something we can answer.
