Site update help

Hello.

I am running 4.2 patch level 2 and am trying to update to the latest version. I have downloaded the latest vb version and am trying to upload the "upload" file via FTP (FIleZIlla) but many of the files fail to upload so i end up just cancelling. I am uploading to what I think is the root. Am I suppose to replace the httpdocs files because as always the instructions for these things are never straightforward

Hello.

You need to upload everything of what you find in the 'upload' folder of the software package. You need to upload this files to your forum root and overwrite old files with it. Afterwards you start the upgrade procedure (like for example www.yourdomain.tld/install/upgrade.php) and follow the instructions on the screen.

Thanks for the quick reply. Sorry meant to say my vb has the CMS also. I am uploading to the root but many of the files fail to upload. file permissions are good so I dont get it. Also I get no prompt to overwrite/replace

Hm... do you see the files then? And is there any error message when it fails to upload files? Are you positive that you upload at the correct place of your FTP?

out of the 1000s of files queued every 5 or so fails to upload so I just cancel otherwise I am waiting my time. I see the files for the updae foler and the existing files for my site on the server
