    Installing 4.2.1 in localhost

I was hoping to install 4.2.1 as a test site on my localhost using XAMPP. I had no problems with earlier versions of vB but XAMPP v1.8.1 containing Apache 2.4.3, Mysql 5.5.27, php 5.4.7 constantly gives me six instances of Strict standards errors and will not install.

Question1. Am I doing something wrong or missing something?

Question2. Is it possible to install v4.2.1 on a local server, and if so what is the procedure please.

vBulletin 4 doesn't support PHP 5.4.x right now.

Install PHP 5.3.x in your XAMPP or use XAMPP 1.7.7
