    [Forum] Attachment upload error #2049

Myself and other users on my forums are receiving a weird error when trying to upload photos.

First I have a user that I'm trying to upload photos to a post that he was getting an error on. When I go to upload the images to his post, it's saying that you cannot load more than 5 images per post, but there are no images/attachments showing.

When I went to create a new post and upload images, I was getting the following error:

    [securityerrorevent type="securityerror" bubbles=false cancelable=false eventphase=2 text="error 2049"]

At least that's what came up when I scrolled over the

    any ideas?

this is in 4.1.5 pl1, on multiple browsers.

    Regards

Hi Zachery - I have had my host disable modsecurity for me and I'm still getting this error. Do you have any other ideas what might cause it? Here is a screenshot of the full error: Click image for larger version

Are you positive they actually disabled mod_security?

My host double-checked and they are quite sure it is turned off.

Here's the interesting thing: I've discovered I can upload pictures in Google Chrome, but not in Mozilla Firefox or Internet Explorer. How backwards does that seem?

As an update to this: I believe this to be an issue of DNS propagation. I just recently moved my site to a new server and for some reason the DNS has propagated to 99% of my users but has not yet propagated to me yet (go figure, huh?). So to get around this, I have changed my "hosts" file in windows to manually point to the new server's IP address. This gets me by when it comes to viewing the forums and posting, but I'm getting these errors where my other forum members are not. When another person attaches an image and posts it, it shows up as a broken image to me, but they all see it just fine.

My assumption is that once my DNS finally propagates to me, this problem will go away. I will update this topic when I am sure.

                Still getting this error myself

My hosts does not even use this security. I spoke with them by phone, and they have never used it. I'm still having the issue, and have no idea how to solve it.

                    I also have this problem.

I have the CMS in root and the forum on a subdomain (which I created 3-4 days ago).

When I have www.domain.com as the "CMS Component URL" in the "Site Name / URL / Contact Details" I get the error for uploading from the computer (and a different one for uploading from a URL) into articles (forum posts seem fine).

                    I do not have mod_security

The issue is caused by something blocking the flash uploader uploading its data. The regular ajax uploader works just fine. you can switch to that.

                        Can it be fixed?

                        Is that the "Basic uploader"?

The basic uploader will work, the flash uploader can be fixed by having your webhost stop blocking it.

No, we're not your webhost, obvious issue is mod_security, or a security application. Googling the error code will lead you to the same result.
