how to configure remote database point to the forum

    [Forum] how to configure remote database point to the forum

    Hi there,

    I have 2 hosts. In order to share the loads, I'd like to use database in one host and forum files in another one. Question is how do I config the config ffile to connect the database from other host? what info do I need from the host where the database located?

    You'll need the remote address for the 'servername' field as well as the relevant login information

      remote address IP from the server where the remote database located ? Do I have to config anything else from Cpanel in order to have Cpanel recoginze the database here is remote database communicate to another server ?

        Its all on vBulletins end, just edit the config file to point to the new server.

          the host server where my forum file located at gave me the ips that point to A record (IP x.x.x.x) is that the IP that I nĂȘed to add to the wildcard at the database server?

            You'll need the actual IP address or URL, wildcards won't work

              You also need to make sure that the database your going to connect to allows external access you need in a normal install you need to specify this when making a new user.
