[Forum] Users awaiting moderation

Evening all.
I used to get around 50 new spam users in the new users awaiting moderation field every day. Last week I updated all my patches etc to the latest version and changed my hoster. Almost overnight I have gone from 50 spam users per day to around 450. This is totally unmanageable as you can well imagine.

Could somebody please help with the settings I should have to help put a stop to this.

I also show quite a high number of spammers in my users on-line area even though my forum is restricted to registered users only.


Any help would be very much appreciated. The last time I tried to sort it I accidently opened things up and was immediately spammed in every section of my forum.

Question and answer with 1 question.

You should have at least 10 questions, only having one, means that if they guess it (or find it out) you have 0 protection.

Also make sure the regex field is empty.

I have increased the number of questions, not to 10 yet, but I have increased them all the same. I have a question though. Do these questions need to be answered before the user gets into the users awaiting moderation section, or do these come after?
