[Forum] Create An Ad Spot On Forum Home Between Categories

I wish to create an ad spot on the forum home between the categories. Example: Head over to http://www.crazyengineers.com/forum/ . I'm aiming to create an ad space between the categories "CE: Headquarters" & "CE: Start Point".

It would be nice if someone could suggest a way to create an ad spot which shows the forum title and creates a box that resembles other categories on the forum.

    Any help would be appreciated.

Create another category bar and use the description for your info. Change the forum list to park it where you want it.

That approach does not allow me to display a 728x90 px banner in that space.

Create a new category and a new forum under that category, then follow the instructions here:

Forum Home Enhancements - Adsense code in fake forum on forum home vBulletin 4.x Template Modifications

And on post 12 of that same thread:

1> Go to the forum manager and make a new forum. This gives you a blank slate to work off of. We'll change it to a category in just a sec
2> Give it a title. Got to put something in there or you get a message telling you, you have to give it a title. A > . < will do. Less noticeable.
3> Paste your html code in the description box.
4> Put a position number in. This tells it where in the index list you want it to appear.
5> If yes is a forum or no it's a category. NO!
6> HTML on? YES! It's only on for this one item. You have to set this to yes in order for your html code to function.
7> And the all important SAVE button. Give it a click and save your work.
Now if you open a browser window your handywork is not going to appear where you told it to. You have a conflict in location numbers. Let's fix that.
8> Go back to the forum manager and open the list up again. You'll see the category bar you just made has the same number as one of the bars already in place. Let's say Entrance Portal is #1 and Artwork is #2. You want your ad or whatever to appear between them. Make the ad or whatever #2 and Artwork #3. Any other category bars under that have to be bumped up also or you run in to that conflict again.
9> Click Save Order at the bottom and go admire your handywork. You're done.

It works just fine. Go to my place and check it out. Link's in the sig.

ROCKS! Works perfect. I wonder whether there's a way to get rid of 'Last Post' which appears in the category.

To get rid of Last Post in the catbar put this in the additional.css >
                          Code:
                          .forumlastpost { display: none !important; }
Remember to click on Save and Reload. Only down side to doing it that way is it stops Last Post from showing in all of the categories.

If you go into "phrase manager" on page 17 you can edit "last_ post", using HTML code so that it matches the background.

Interesting idea josiah. As it appears, it seems there are many ways to work this and just as many ways to tweak it.
