[Forum] Forum hangs, double posts.. Unreachable.. Then, fine for a while?

    Am I doing something wrong?

It does this all the time. I contact the host, and they assure me nothing is wrong. The tracert is fine.

All I know is I just want it fixed.. I am a complete noob at this, but is there something I can do to diagnose this? Is there some sort of routing maintenance I should be doing daily? (I update counters and stuff, but it doesn't seem to help)

Any help you can provide would be appreciated.

That is either a server issue or a problem with a modification.

To troubleshoot this, first reupload all the original vB non-image files (except install.php). Make sure you upload these in ASCII format and overwrite the ones on the server. Also be sure to upload the admincp files to whichever directory you have set in your config.php file. Then run 'Suspect File Versions' in Diagnostics to make sure you have all the original files for your version and that none show 'File does not contain expected contents':

Admin CP -> Maintenance -> Diagnostics -> Suspect File Versions

[Note: In some cases you may also need to remove any of the listed .xml files in the includes/xml directory.]

Next, disable all products (except vB Blog, vB CMS and Skimlinks if you have them.)

Admin CP -> Plugins & Products -> Manage Products -> Disable

Then manually uncheck all plugins that are not for 'vBulletin Blog' and vBulletin CMS' here:

Admin CP -> Plugins & Products -> Plugin Manager

You must do BOTH of those steps in order to disable all non vBulletin Modifications.

Then if you still have this problem, create a new style and choose no parent style. This will force it to use the default templates. Finally empty your browser cache, close all browser windows then try again. Make sure you change to the new style and view your forums with it.

Do you have the same problem?

Okay, well.. If it has to be a server issue or mods.. There are no modifications.

I've done nothing to the forum. It's exactly like I got it from you guys.

No plug ins.. No mods. Nothing

I generated some styles with your generator.. That's it.

I didn't install it.. The host did: URL JET.

They're supposed to specialize in this kind of thing, and I've seen a lot of great reviews for them.. So, I don't know what to do exactly.

But there's no mods on it.

Well, I uploaded text based files in ASCII mode for admin cp and one other directory. .. and now it's tagged them all as "File does not contain expected contents"

        So, I stopped.

        Is this normal?

No it's not. This means that you have not uploaded all the files correctly.

Okay, apparently they were compromised in some way.. So, that's fixed by extracting them from the original zip file I downloaded from you and over writing them.

            However, the:

DD_belatedPNG_0.0.8a.js File does not contain expected contents

            And

blank.html File does not contain expected contents

And re-extracting & overwriting them doesn't change anything..

Any suggestions as to what to do about those?

DD_belatedPNG_0.0.8a.js this file is changed because when you add your header it writes it into it so leave this file as it is

That is fine If you have no add-ons, then this is a server issue.

Okay.. That's kinda what I figured. But I wanted to be sure.

Thanks for your help, Mr. Machol, Hawk.

                  Appreciate it!
