    [Forum] Google AdSense overlapping with videos

    Hi all,

    Some users have pointed me to a problem. Whenever the visitor is browsing my forum using a screen resolution of 1024*768 or so, posts wit videos inside the first/last post in a page get covered in part by the right-aligned AdSense ad. You can see it at http://www.pescaydevolucion.com/foro/f48/palabras-18029/

    If you have a bigger resolution, you might have to adjust your browser to see the problem.

    How can I fix this?

    Thanks in advance!

      Hi Hawk2,

      Hmmm... I've just double checked and it is overlapping using Google Chrome. When using IE 8 or 9, the video suddenly jump below the ad while narrowing the width of the browser so IE is fine.

      Just checked and the problem is also in Firefox 4 (i.e. doesn't leave white spaces below the text and up to the video to leave the advertisement "floating" on the right).

      Here's a screenshot of how I see it in Chrome (similar to Firefox).

      Anyone has an idea on how to solve this?

      Thanks again.

        I don't see the ad in the first post...
        Vote for:

        - Admin Settable Paid Subscription Reminder Timeframe (vB6)
        - Add Admin ability to auto-subscribe users to specific channel(s) (vB6)

          Hi Trevor. That's odd. I have AdSense setup so it displays a white background in case there's no ad to show. Maybe that's what you see.

              Nope as it would be a lame solution. The video size is perfect to fit every resolution from 1024x768 (and up). I just can't find (and is not logical) why it won't move to a lower position on some browsers.

                  Yeah, I know what you mean. I'm saying that the size of the container fits perfectly for monitors with a resolution of 1024*768 and up (with legacy on-the-side postbit like I have my forum) so smaller would just be too small. There must be some way of telling that box to move down the ad in the browsers that don't instead of overlapping.

                      Perhaps the problem has been solved long time ago.

                      Why did you dig up a more then a year old post? Do you have the same problem as the OP?

                      vB5 is unequivocally the best forum software, but not yet...

                          It may be because, at least in the case of the OP, I see Vimeo is being embedded using the <object> tag, which isn't a <div>

                          Editing the template bbcode_video and adding <div> around the code should help.

                          Again for the OP they should find this code:

                          Code:
                          <object class="restrain" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="640" height="360" data="//vimeo.com/moogaloop.swf?clip_id={vb:raw code}">
                          <param name="movie" value="//vimeo.com/moogaloop.swf?clip_id={vb:raw code}" />
                          <param name="wmode" value="{vb:raw wmode}" />
                          <!--[if IE 6]>
                          <embed width="640" height="360" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" src="//vimeo.com/moogaloop.swf?clip_id={vb:raw code}" />
                          <![endif]--></object>
                          And put a <div> right before it and </div> right after it and see if that works.

                          You could try it for whatever video provider that is in your screenshot if it using the <object> tag,
