This is currently scheduled to be fixed within the core product in 4.2 according to the issue here: http://tracker.vbulletin.com/browse/VBIV-952
There is a plugin at vbulletin.org that will keep comments in the thread that the article was promoted from. Don't know what its state is or how much support it gets.Translations provided by Google.
