    [Forum] redirect old urls

Hello all. I recently moved my forums down to the root directory. In addition, I also switched from the standard url scheme to the advanced friendly urls. Of course, now all of my links in the search engine are broken.

What is the best way to redirect the old links to the new in .htaccess? If I can't do a direct forum to forum redirect, I'd like to at least have 404 pages go the the main index page.

    thanks.

if you have vbseo you can redirect the old links to the new
otherwise you can redirect the old links to the home page or your 404 if you want
all using the htaccess file or pretty much any 301 redirect method you want.

Nah, I do not use vbseo anymore.

I'll have to do some serious researching to figure this out.

Old page example would be http://www.mysite.com/forums/f30/, which is a standard url.

New page is something like: http://www.mysite.com/forumdisplay.p...category-title

Notice the forum directory has been eliminated the the url is friendly.

I'm not a .htaccess expert. If anyone knows how to fix this I would be grateful. I have been running this site for several years and I have a lot of search engine traffic that is broken. However, I feel the change was a necessary one.
