Not to be mean, bug 50mb is nothing for a database, in the future you might want to look at a webhost who offers shell accounts so you can do backups and restores yourself.

I have asked my host supplier to increase phpmyadmins limits but they cant.
I do have shell access but in the heat of the moment i did not even consider it actually. (Command line and me dont get along real well)
Fact is my forum is my life line. Its how my mates and family communicate with me.
Not to mention a community of others.
Normally i would just split the database during backup. But again thought it was not going to be an issue so did as 1.

Should you run into the same issue again, try PaulM 's suggestion. That will work fine. Good luck

phpMyAdmin has limits to importing. A program many people use is bigdump.
I don't get along using line commands either. I ended up reverting back two days.

                Got me stumped.
I am using the old database and old files and i still have issues.
It seems like a css issue?

Also i cant access who is online page?
Any ideas as to how this could be happening?

All I see is a white page. Is that the problem you are having? If so, please see this for all the known causes of blank or 'white' pages:

Its only a white page in IE i believe.
I can see it it FF but no CSS at all.

You might be seeing a cached page.
I can't see it in FF.

I tried Admin CP -> Maintenance -> Diagnostics -> Suspect File Versions

Shows basically every file as foreign.
Should i try the upgrade at this point or try repair then upgrade?

first get your existing version working. then go for upgrade.

keep your db backup safe. then reupload all 4.0.8 files. see if it works properly.
if not, just open a support ticket. support guys from vb will quickly help your. dont forget to give them your ftp un/pass, database access.

btw, it appears to me that your template is "damaged". Try to create a new default style.
