    [Forum] chmod

    hi,

I read about setting .php files for my forum to 644 for added security on shared hosting.
Can I ask, is this all .php files for vBB, or just the ones in the root vBB folder?
Can I set all the .php files within the many sub folders as well without effecting other functions of the forum?

    Thanks

.php files, yes. But not directories. There are some directories where vB (running with the user id of the web server process) may need write access, depending on how you configured it.

      Cool

Is there anything else I can do to limit the chance of been hacked just by applying damage limitation?

      So far I've...

1: Htaccess the following.... admin, mod, install, includes folders.
2: Changed the names of the admin and mod folders.
3: Chmod all .php files to 644

Is there any kind of mods that offer security that's worth installing?

      Thanks

If you follow the tips in this thread, it will help:

        Vote for:

        - Admin Settable Paid Subscription Reminder Timeframe (vB6)
        - Add Admin ability to auto-subscribe users to specific channel(s) (vB6)

            thanks for your time replying

            UNDELETABLE / UNALTERABLE USERS

The above, when it says userids separated by comma. Does it mean the actual username itself or the id? For example the first member of the forum which is the admin that I need to have protected is, id: 1

I just managed to find the answer by trying another part of the line in google.

the answer is,,, user ID itself,,, for me it's id: 1 and id: 2
            So I will input '1,2'

              Use the IDs so '1,2,3,4,5'
