    [Forum] Spammers are relentless!

99.999% of my traffic is Spammers registering!

Everyday I have to ban Ip addresses and delete spammers awaiting registration.
At least 10 to 15 register every single day!

Then they create new ip addresses and new email accounts, so I have to check everyone at Stopforumspam.com

Are there any instructions or special settings in can follow to stop these cancers?
They are Relentless, and wasting my time everyday.

    Thank you for your suggestions

Make sure you're using reCapcha or unique Question and Anwser verification for your site.

As suggested add a question to your registration field like this...

AdminCP > User Profile Fields > Add New User Profile Field

      Title: Human Verification Question
Description: What are cows made of? <----------------- Your question
      Default Value: (null)
Field Required: Yes, at registration and profile updating
Field Editable by User: Only at registration
      Private Field: Yes
Field Searchable on Members List: No
      Show on Members List: No
Regular Expression: ^[beef|BEEF]$ <----------------- Your answer

I personally don't think you need to go further than the default Q/A or reCapcha, but thats me.

vB5 is unequivocally the best forum software, but not yet...

On my vB4 site I've been using vbStopForumSpam and deny known email addresses and ip addresses.
It's all automatic. Works while I sleep.

The unique question works great on my site and not had a single spammer for 8 months now... (One of the good functions of VB4)

                Me either.

I do create a custom profile field that is relevant to the forum, ie. gender is simple, make it a dropdown and compulsory. That immediately stops all bots from auto filling a registration form. Recapthca standard works just fine.

                  Does vBulletin.com use these methods?
If so, why do we see spam here?

Those methods cannot stop human registrations.

I think Stop Forum Spam is cleaner:

                      Working fine for me
I could sell you my unused vB4 Suite license, but I'm not so cruel...
