    [Forum] QuickReply Typing Lag

For some reason since upgrading to version 4, when one of our users is trying to type in the QuickReply box, there is a tremendous amount of lag (up to 10 seconds) between the time they press a key on their keyboard and the time the letter appears in the QuickReply box. We thought there might have been some sort of AJAX running for some sort of spell checking or word counting mechanism so we disabled all AJAX and the problem still occurs. This is frustrating many of our users. Any help would be appreciated.

All users including myself. Even users who claim to have the latest and greatest machines.

Does it happen here? I think something similar happened to me last night here but at the time I put it down to problems I have been having with the latest ff. It felt like typing from beyond the grave.

Try turning off fb integration if possible.

I have FB integration off and the quick reply typing is impossible. Way too much delay.

Interestingly, there's no delay on this quick reply (at vbulletin.com's forum)...

I have no add-ons or plugins, and this problem started with the upgrade from 4.0.1 to 4.0.3.

Only happens on IE8, and only on longer threads. Seems the lag gets longer as the post count on a thread increases...

              Anyone concur?

Do you have any addons, are you getting any javascript errors? What browser/OS are you getting this in?

I also got one user complaining about reply/edit ajax taking forever (pages load fine for him).

                        Thanks for your reply.
As I said in my post, no addons, only happens in IE8. I'm using Windows 7 x64. No Javascript errors. Only happens is quick reply, not in advanced, and only on longer threads. Only started when I updated from 4.0.1 to 4.0.3. Initially assumed it was a slow internet connection until I saw that it was happening all the time on quickreplies to long threads.

I checked our install and our admin and there is no Facebook Options section under settings. We're running version 4.0.2 Patch Level 1. The URL to our site which is having trouble is http://forums.saltwaterfish.com/vb. Please take a look and let us know if there's anything we can do. Our problem seems to almost mirror the issues that Meestor_X reported in this very thread.

may be a bit off topic, but 4.0.2PL1 has several security flaws. Please upgrade to PL4 or 4.0.3
