you are not the only one that has this problem. I have never had the sitemap work at all. I stop trying as well and just now getting back around to fixing it. Tried all the same stuff as well as moving things around on the server and still got nothing. NO URL PATH works no matter how I type it.

Has to be user error as I am sure someone got this working using something. Would love for someone to copy and paste in the path they are using as reference.

EDITED -- I missed the second page of this thread where someone said add a file to the folder. I did that and the dang thing now works. Where in the hell is that tidbit of info in the VB manual????

I don't know if that is the correct way to do it but thank god for the guy that offered up that info as it works just fine now.

Why don't you tell us exactly what you have done. Where is your sitemap directory - full path, please. And it's chmod to 777? Now, let's see what you have in your options > sitemap page - an image would be useful.

Please don't PM or VM me for support - I only help out in the threads.

If I post CSS and you don't know where it goes, throw it into the additional.css template.

I originally had a folder which was 777 at my root directory. Nothing was in it though.

I moved the xml file around a few places, changed it to 777, even changed it's name based on a post on this site a few months back. I gave up on it.

I used every known configuration for the path and never once got it to not give me the file path is wrong error.

Today I was doing some clean up and thought I would give it a shot.

I noticed the other info in this thread about adding a file and well...
I did did that, ran the rebuild and now it works. Don't know why but it works.
I am using ./sitemap for the path which I was thinking wasn't correct beings it says type in the FULL path to the directory.

Oh well, it is working and confirmed via google.

            Newbie strikes again!

I have no freaking clue why adding a file into the directory works. My guess is that it must be an OS reply to the filecreate command that the directory doesn't exist until something is in it.

What is the correct path for setting this up? (Sorry to bump but it does not seem resolved either)

              Sitemap File Path
XML sitemap data must be written to the filesystem to function. Enter the full path to the directory the files should be written to. Do not include a trailing slash.

This directory must be writable by the webserver.
Error:You did not enter a valid value for this setting.

                      Follow these steps -
                      Create a folder named "sitemap".
Make sure that the folder 'sitemap' is CHMOD 777

                      Imp -
If your forum URL is: http://www.yoursite.com/forum -> Create a folder called 'sitemap' under in the 'forum' folder and then set the path as ./forum/sitemap (Note: the dot before slash)
If your forum URL is: http://www.yoursite.com -> create a folder called 'sitemap' the root of your website and then set the path as ./sitemap (Note: the dot before slash)

                      => Rebuild Sitemap
