[Forum] Turning off image retrieval when posting an image?

Is there any way to turn off the "retrieve remote file and reference locally" option?

Isn't this just pulling the image from the web and saving a version on the server or in the database? I like when images show up from sites like photobucket just right in the post instead of turning into a thumbnail. Why would I want to fill up my server with files when it's not necessary?

the problem I have is that all images turn into attachments now instead of just being inline in posts. I don't like this. A lot of my images from before that were in line are no long visible.

And, why can't images from members public albums be posted in threads? Because they are considered attachments and not real images? So instead of posting an image from an album you have to post a link to the members album image which takes the viewer away from the thread and to the album - This is very stupid.

For example when viewing a members image by right clicking > view image it opens the image as such instead of a jpg, or gif, etc., http://www.examplesite.com/forum/att...3&d=1263439549

Totally useless as a gallery image to place anywhere on the site.

In the who's online function if someone is looking at an image, it says "viewing attachment" - therefore as an admin you can't really tell where people are on the site.

Go to Admin > Attachments > Attachment Permissions > deny the usergroups you want to deny to, and this should fix it .. though I'm not sure if it breaks something else. :lol

I'm not sure why the box is checked by default. My members didn't know what that was and were unknowingly uploading files maxing out their storage allotment. I unchecked that box in the template:

          admincp >> Styles & Templates >> Style Manager >> Edit Templates >> Editor Templates >> editor_upload_overlay

Search for the line starting <label for="urlretrieve">. Remove checked="checked" from that line.
