[Forum] site map path setting v4.0.1

hi im trying to set up the site map path but not sute what to put in the field

XML sitemap data must be written to the filesystem to function. Enter the full path to the directory the files should be written to. Do not include a trailing slash.
    also

This directory must be writable by the webserver.
does that mean i make the root 777?

        I think I got it. i used this: ./vbulletin/sitemap

vbulletin is my forum folder. I just made an folder called "sitemap". tried with google sitemap and it works. I'm getting green V

edit: the google path is: vbulletin/xmlsitemap.php it only uses the folder to create the file? I don't know, all I know is that it works.

          Capy has the correct setup.

To submit to Google, Yahoo, Bing, etc... you would use:
          http://www.yourdomain.com/forumpath/xmlsitemap.php

That will pull the cached and archived sitemap files to feed them to the search engines.

I'm having the same problem as others here - I can't work out what to use as the sitemap filepath and the vbulletin Help file is useless (it doesn't even mention this section)

the folder store_sitemap exists in the public_html folder and has permissions set to 777

            I've tried

            home/myforum/public_html/store_sitemap
            ./store_sitemap

but there's a red box beneath the form field which says "Error:You did not enter a valid value for this setting. " and if I go to submit the settings I get a "Message from webpage" saying "There are errors on the settings on this page"

Can anyone shed any light on this?

Please start your own thread, ask your webhost for your system path, if you still need more help, then your own thread it is.

Thanks for all your help Zachery. I solved the problem.

I am surprised that you encourage people to create a new thread when they have exactly the same problem as that described in an existing thread - most other forums I use tend to encourage the opposite behaviour.

If you don't want people posting in a thread started by someone else there is an easy way to prevent this - close the thread!

Two problems are very rarely the same. It is also difficult supporting multiple people in the same thread.

I've got the same issue as kjh411. I've used /forums/xmlsitemap.php and get the same red error box. I also tried the full URL. Can anyone help out, I've searched the forum with no luck until finding this thread? Thanks

Your patch is incorrect. Open your own thread asking for support.

So what is the correct path? Or is this a mystery we have to figure out on our own? Anyone?
