[Forum] Sitemap question (yes, have read the other threads)

My question is, has anyone actually managed to get this working properly?

So far I can get the site to generate the site maps:

    vbulletin_sitemap_forum_0_70.xml.gz
    vbulletin_sitemap_index.xml.gz
    vbulletin_sitemap_thread_1_30000.xml.gz
    vbulletin_sitemap_thread_2_30000.xml.gz
    vbulletin_sitemap_thread_3_30000.xml.gz
    vbulletin_sitemap_thread_4_30000.xml.gz
    vbulletin_sitemap_thread_5_30000.xml.gz
    vbulletin_sitemap_thread_6_4225.xml.gz

    So far, so good...

So, I then submitted the xmlsitemap.php file - this gives the error: Your Sitemap does not contain any URLs. Please validate and resubmit your Sitemap.
I then tried submitting the ./sitemap/vbulletin_sitemap_index.xml.gz file - this gives the error: We encountered an error while trying to access your Sitemap. Please ensure your Sitemap follows our guidelines and can be accessed at the location you provided and then resubmit.

I've added a robots.txt file to the root directory specifying /. for all, but this hasn't made any difference.

So, back to the first question is it actually possible to get this working, or do I need to a) wait for a bug fix or b) try and get a beta of vbseo sitemap 2.6

    Any help/thoughts/etc... greatly appreciated!

    Dave.

not sure myself, i can see the zip files created on my webserver:

          vbulletin_sitemap_index.xml.gz
          vbulletin_sitemap_forum_0_26.xml.gz
          vbulletin_sitemap_thread_1_658.xml.gz

In the options it says automatic submission to google, yahoo etc, but after reading that project thread it seems the members were submitting it to google them selves, is that what we need to do?

It is supposed to send them to google, but a lot of people (including me) use Google Webmaster tools, this amongst other things lets you see how many threads from your sitemaps have been indexed etc... (also used for keywords, search results etc... and it's free )
