Nope, all you need to do is upload the new functions.php file.

Apparently you don't run the install/upgrade script - It takes a lot of 'finding out' what to do when these guys release something...
(Do they actually realise the reason we but this stuff is because we're not web wizards liek they are )
I've just followed the instructions to overwrite the 2 files in the patch zip over the files in the /includes/ folder.
This is a discussion forum powered by vBulletin. To find out about vBulletin, go to http://www.vbulletin.com/ .
My question is why doesn't my forum now show 'vBulletin 4 - Patch 1' in the footer - have I installed it right or not ???????????Comment

There's no way they wouldn't have caught this before if it truly effected pre-4.0 versions. This is a crock of bull, they are probably saying it effects vB3 so they dont look like total idiots less than 1 day after releasing 4.
All I know is I feel like I got ripped off by vBulletin, and am very unhappy with this poor excuse of an 'upgrade'. CMS is unusable if not in root.Comment

Just a security issue. No bug fixes if that's what you mean....steven

I feel 90% of the members who are not happy with vB4 and are upset in general is because of the CMS not being able to 'easily' be in the root directory, without either losing all of your links and page rank, or an .htaccess edit which will crush our Google Index and search engine index. Zachery all we want is an answer to that. Just answer the members, will we be able to move the CMS into the root dir? Why won't you guys just give us an answer? http://www.vbulletin.com/forum/showt...nder-forum-How or http://www.vbulletin.com/forum/proje...?issueid=32029Comment

CMS seems to work exactly right for me. I have been learning the ropes since the first 4.0 Beta and that gave me confidence with the 4.0 Gold. There is too much to learn all at once, it was really a gradual process learning the CMS terms and functions. I am glad I learned, and I am very pleased with the product. You can pay more...but you can't buy better than the Ford.Comment

Okay, i understand your complaints, though I do not have any power to address them I am support.
We're not not giving you anwsers, we're doing everything we can to support the customers in the ticket system and in the forums. If we haven't anwsered your ticket, or thread yet, be paitent. Our standard don't bump thread rules are still in effect and still request that you wait 24 hours before bumping a post.
I think this will work to redirect your traffic in your forum folder to your root domain, place this htaccess file in your current forum directory.
Code:RewriteEngine On RewriteBase / RewriteRule (.*)$ http://www.domain.com/$1 [R=301,L]

Gotta say, a hot shower, cold beer and time to reflect... Up and running 4.0 forum and blogs are up, cms shut off until I can sort out how I want to move the website to it. All in all, once I realized wtf I was doing wrong, it went without a hitch! I even told my wife I was gonna go run around in the snow naked! So happy to report all is well. Now for some needed sleep!Comment
