    I'm getting this error when trying to install VB 4.2.2

    Parse error: syntax error, unexpected '$config' (T_VARIABLE) in /home4/edited/out/forum/includes/config.php on line 64 I edited out the user and site names.

    ETA: Line 64 is the password for the DB. I checked with the hosting service and everything is correct.

    I've done some searching and can't seem to find anything on it ex. a version 5.

    You need to install 4.2.5, not 4.2.2.

    4.2.2 is unsupported, and is not compatible with latest versions of php, which is what is causing the error.

        Mark,

        I just uploaded and tried to install 4.2.5 and got this: Fatal error: Class 'vB_Templater' not found in /home4/edited/out/forum/vb/vb.php on line 24

        Here's the line(s):

        class vB_Templater_vB extends vB_Templater
        {
        /*

          What version of php is running on the server?

          For 4.2.5 it must be either 5.6, 7.0 or 7.1.
          7.1 is preferable.

              OK! I just changed it to 7.1. Let's see now.

              Do I have to wait for it to propagate?

              Still getting: Fatal error: Class 'vB_Templater' not found in /home4/edited/out/forum/vb/vb.php on line 23

                Is this a fresh installation or an upgrade of an existing installation?

                    I would download a fresh a copy of the 4.2.5 files, upload these to the server (making sure you overwrite everything that's there) and then run the install script again.
