    Installation 4.2.5 db connection error

I am getting this error when trying to run installation script

Due to the following errors, the install/upgrade can not continue:
The database has failed to connect because you do not have permission to connect to the server. Please confirm the values entered in the includes/config.php file
Error description: mysqli_real_connect(): (28000/1045): Access denied for user '‘xxxx’'@'localhost' (using password: YES) /home/l3e91p0pz7r5/public_html/forum/includes/class_core.php on line 1351

    My version are below:

    Server: Localhost via UNIX socket
    Server type: MySQL
Server version: 5.6.39-cll-lve - MySQL Community Server (GPL)
    Protocol version: 10
    User: cpses_l3ldkunxdr@localhost
    Server charset: UTF-8 Unicode (utf8)

    PHP version: 5.6.30
The image shows a successful db connection using a test script provided by godaddy so once that script can connect to the database it must be an issue with vbulletin.
I've read other with similar issues but nothing has helped in my specific issue. At first i was just doing the forum install and thought maybe if i did the suite install it would help but I get the same resulting error.

Does anyone have any other ideas?

This error means that the software can not connect to the database using the credentials you have entered in the config.php file.

You will need to check this with your host. It is not actually a vBulletin issue.

Thanks for the quick response by the way.

the host godaddy says not there problem because using the same credentials in the config.php file, entered into there test script the connection is made.

That just isn't possible. GoDaddy are notorious for blaming the software. the reality is, there are tens of thousands of copies of vBulletin installed worldwide, so it's not going to be an issue with the software.

Access Denied in MySQL is that the credentials are not allowing access. Likely cause in an error in the credentials...even a space will cause issues.

Make sure you have the full credentials entered...you need the database name, username, and password. Also make sure the MySQL server is correct, it's usually Localhost on GoDaddy but not always.

Well.. I've created new databases users names passwords and Can connect to the database using the same credentials with the test script. But using changed credentials in config.php gives me same results as in access denied. The config.php file is the only one I need to edit for 4.2.5. correct? Cause it has to be something simple that I am messing up. Ive ran vbulletin 3.x years ago on 2 different sites so I am not completely new and I've never had installation connection problems but have never use godaddy either

Make sure you give the database user full permissions. The user needs ALL privileges.

Make sure the .new is removed from the config.php.new file. What are the contents of your /includes/config.php file?

Just to note that I switched to another Host since GoDaddy was giving me too many problems.
