A server running PHP 5.4 shouldn't be considered secure at this point in time. Please upgrade your PHP to 7.1 and upgrade vBulletin to 4.2.5.- You will want to take your forums offline.
- Upgrade PHP to 7.1 (this will break your currently offline forums)
- Create a database backup
- Upgrade vBulletin to 4.2.5
- Create a database backup
- Turn your forums on.
Thank you.Leave a comment:

Upgrading up from 4.2.0 on a server with PHP version 5.3.29
Hi there,
I'm having some issues trying to transfer a forum to another server. Currently running vBulletin 4.2.0 on a server with PHP 5.3.29 and wanting to move it to a server with PHP 5.4.24.
I was thinking of upgrading the forum on my current server first but I've seen that anything above my current version requires a higher version of PHP.
So my question is - how do I go about doing this? Will upgrading my forum crash it completely? or should I try to upgrade my PHP first to a version that supports the upgrade?
Any help would be appreciatedTags: None
