The server had already PHP 5.6, it was just a matter of applying it and I also just finished upgrading the vBulletin Forum to version 4.2.5.
But unfortunatelly I still have the issue. http://foro.eog.com

Every upgrade will change the database to some degree. 4.2.0 to 4.2.5 makes some fairly big changes, particularly around the navbar manager and various other things.

You can run the upgrade on a test copy first, but you cannot then import the live database onto that. You will need to run the upgrade again on the live database.

Always have full backups at all times.

Ok thank you, quick, question, when you do the upgrade, does it alter the DB, any change to the DB?
The question is because I have this new server, I will test the upgrade, when I'm ready to move it to live, do I have to execute the upgrade again with the updated DB?

    Thank you Mark.B

vBulletin 4.2.0 is only compatible with php versions up to 5.3.

Your new server should not be running php 5.4 either, this too is no longer supported.

As a bare minimum the new server should run php 5.6. You shoud then upgrade vBulletin to 4.2.5.

Failed to get DB handle: SQLSTATE[HY000] [2002] Connection timed out trying to see the posts of the threats.

We are moving to a new webhosting provider.

We have restored the DB in multiple ways with no errors

All the site content is visible (categories and threats, under admincp, we can see all the users, avatars, images, which they are Stored in the DB)

But when we enter to a post give us the error message.

We are currently running vBulletin version 4.2.0 Patch Level 3.
I want to make the upgrade to VB5 but would like to fix the issue before.
