Upgrade from 4.1.1 to 4.2.5 Error (Site Now Down Hard)

I tried to upgrade from 4.1.11 to 4.2.5, by doing:

    Downloading 4.2.5
Removing the install/install.php (if I recall correctly)
Uploading the upgrade package to my host (Hostgator)
Running the upgrade by going to: https://www.og13.com/forums/install/upgrade.php

When I tried, I immediately receive:

PHP Warning: mysqli_query(): (42S22/1054): Unknown column 'phrasegroup_activitystream' in 'field list' in ..../includes/class_core.php on line 1386
    Database error
And now the site is completely offline, returning the same error as listed above.

Can any of you with a skillset greater than mine (this is NOT my avenue of expertise, so I am sure you are all far more readily capable of seeing what the issue is) take a look and let me know what I need to do to right this wrong?

Please let me know if you need any configuration settings or anything from me.

    Very appreciated,

    Anthony

What version of php are you running?
      4.2.5 requires a minimum of php 5.6.

That could be the issue. I believe that hostgator said they are at 5.5. I am going to reach out to them.

In the event that they only run 5.5 and cannot upgrade, can you let me know which version of 4.x will work with 5.5?

You can change your PHP Version in the cPanel provided by HostGator - http://support.hostgator.com/article...uration-plugin

What step are you on in the upgrade?

It seems you missed a step along the way. That field is added in the upgrade for 4.2.0 Alpha 1 Step 15. It would appear you've skipped steps somewhere.

Step four of the vBulletin vb4_readme.html file from the 4.2.5 zip file.

        1. Close your board via the Admin Control Panel. [success]

        2. Delete install/install.php from your upload directory [success]

        3. Upload all remaining files from the 'upload/' folder in the zip. [success]

        4. Open your browser and point the URL to your forums, [fail]

I go to https://www.og13.com/forums/install/upgrade.php and hit [enter] (from IE, Firefox, and Chrome, from home and from work) and immediately receive the error I posted in entry 1 within the browser. I cannot get the upgrade to commence, so I am sure you are right. There has to be some step not accounted for that is not listed in the vb4 upgrade document.

No... The upgrade script goes through a number of steps. There could be dozens of steps each version. That is what I need to know. Without it, I wouldn't be able to solve your problem. You'll have to open a support ticket and provide full access to your server so someone can look at the issue.

That is what I stated. The upgrade script does not kick off.

If I go to launch the upgrade scripts and the only thing that happens is the error on the web page, and no other steps take place, and nothing pops up, and nothing shows on the screen, then something is not permitting the upgrade script from running. I will be happy to open a support ticket and grant access. Thanks.

For anyone following this, vbulletin support found an issue with the HTAccess file. They renamed it to something else, and I was able to immediately and successfully run the upgrade and restore the site.
