    vB 4.2.3 and PHP

I am now running my forum on 4.2.3 with PHP 5.5....

As 5.5 is an older version of PHP what would be the best version, if any to upgrade my server too?

PHP 5.6. You should also upgrade to vBulletin 4.2.4

If you want to use PHP 7.X, you can but you will need to upgrade to vBulletin 4.2.5 RC1.

Thank you.... so for now I am OK to go to PHP 5.6?

Lots to do with the custom scheme then I can go to 4.2.4

From 4.2.3 to 4.2.4 should not involve lots to do with any custom scheme, I think there is one minor template change.

Thanks Paul... I have just upgraded to PHP 5.6 to be safe, no reason why now as I did use 4.2.2 with 5.5 for a while

I will try to upgrade my test site over the weekend and see what happens... problem I have is the scheme developer seems to have disappeared and I am no expert on making any changes needed... don't suppose you know anyone if needed?

            Hi Paul/Wayne...

Just to let you know, out of curiosity I have just upgraded my test forum from 4.2.3 to 4.2.4 now PHP has been updated to 5.6 and it went perfect... no extra template changes apperared and the site seems to work as it should...and the custom style looks OK

So I think it is time to get the "live" site upgraded next weekend....

Does VBulletin still offer a paid support to upgrade me? I am on 4.2.2 , with PHP 5.3.29 and MySQL 5.1.73.cll .

We have our own server with Dotblock, and I am unsure what comes first?

We offer a paid service to upgrade vBulletin. We do not perform server upgrades such a PHP.

I am running vb 4.2.4 and php 5.6 To do this, I have to use .htaccess to force php 5.6 into just this directory, while allowing php 7 for my vb 5 forum running in a different directory. I am on a VPS server that allows multi PHP.ini configuration via WHM.

To avoid this, and run both on php 7, I would need vb 4.2.5 RC2? Will 4.2.5 be eventually released as a stable, supported version?

Yes it will, probably some time this month. Although you could run it now without issue.
