What version of php are you running?

Did you upload your files via FTP. If so make sure XML, JS, and PHP file extensions upload as Ascii and all others (images) upload in binary format.

If you edited either config.php file with Windows Notepad you'll need to redo it from the original config.php.new or config.php.bkp and use a code editor like Notepad2 or Notepad++, both free, for Windows.

Somewhere in your FTP program's settings should be some section on file types. There is usually a list of file extensions that will be uploaded in ascii mode. .txt, .html are usually on it already. Make sure to add .php, .js. and .xml if they aren't already there.

What version of vB4 are you upgrading to? What add-ons are you running on your site? Are you using a third party style?

• im trying upgration to Version 4.2.3 Patch Level 2
• i have a lot of add-ons installed
• and yeah im using a new style

Did you make any edits to any files?

When you edited config.php what program did you use? If you used Windows Notepad that could be the problem. If you did you'll need to create a new config.php file (and replace any file you edited with Windows Notepad.)

Instead of Notepad download Notepad2 or Notepad++, both are free code editors available online.

I know this is frustrating, please be respectful in your replies. Also we ask in the support forums you translate to English before posting. I can assure you I am not using any script.

Based on the line number in your original error (4730 in class_core.php) it appears to be a syntax error in a template causing the error. The template may come from a modification or it may be a template that was edited manually, or otherwise corrupted.

1) Backup your site

2) Disable hooks in your config.php file: define('DISABLE_HOOKS', 1);

3) After uploading a fresh set of the latest files, re-run the upgrade process.

4) Delete the /install/ folder.

5) If you still get the error would need to start manually checking styles. If possible delete every style you don't absolutely need. (You can download a copy before you delete them.)

See if any of that helps. If it doesn't we'll need to try to determine the actual template causing the problem.
