If you don't mind my asking, why are you in that situation? If you have shared hosting, have you asked if they have other versions of php available, or if they're planning to upgrade at some point?

Am I going to miss security fixes? If yes, do you plan to release these fixes as a patch for 4.2.2 ?
Then you should get a new less ****ty webhost.

anyway we're going off topic, I still don't know if I'm missing security fixes

If you have a VPS, you should have root access, just shared hosting that don't

            There is a sentence:
"You get that what you pay for"

And as I said already this version of PHP is unsupported so you are open to hacking attacks.

Its so awesome, but you don't get anything you would with a reasonable webhost. Even GoDaddy can offer you something 5x better than what you're getting now.

Please find a better webhost, no one should be locked into running an old, insecure, out of date version of PHP.

                    No official announcement for 4.2.3?

Indeed, I was about to ask the same thing. No news? No announcement?

Ya, it has been released seeing you can also download it in the members area.. But I'm lost to why there is no news announcement about it and why there's no official changelog (besides the bug list).

You can always see the changelog in JIRA by going to the project and clicking on the Changelog Tab.

Only reason is that I can think about there being no announcement, ebulletin or changelog posted is because vBulletin 4 is not actually under active development.

I'm aware of the tracker list, thanks . But still, if something is being released, it would be nice if an announcement would be made. The beta(s) of 4.2.3 received announcements, so I'm curious why the final release didn't get any. Regardless not being under 'active development'.
