    [Forum] Forum move testing problems

    Hi

I have a forum on a VPS and am looking to move it (I have root access to both servers)

The forum is 4.1.2 and working fine

I have my new VPS and done a cpbackup and restore on the new server to check it all runs ok

New forum is only accessible by IP and locked by a password, all that works fine

Now i have ediited my etc/hosts file on my mac for my new IP address so i can see the new server in a browser

The server is on an IP address at present and the domain (DNS) are pointing to the old server (still current and working)

When i go to the new server home directory for the forum I get forwarded to install/install.php - which obviously isnt there ?

Why am i getting forwarded to install.php and is there something I need to edit so i can see the forum on the new VPS and check it before i do the move ?

Something in your config file isn't right.

Can't tell you, but the system checks a few things in the datastore.

Are your sure your config.php file is 100% correct? Are you using any datastore cacheing methods that are not available on the new server?

Yes, the config is 100% the same - just ftp'd another copy over and no difference

Hmmm Database caching - Ill have a look

The database name is correct? Database prefix?

              Very strange

The backup of the database from the running server isnt backing up all the tables

Old server 250+ tables - Backup (tried various methods (mysqldump and cpanel backup)) - New tables 86 on new server

Old database 1Gb - New database when restores 250mB

But sqldump file shows 945775060 with dir -l comand
