Hi all,
I just recently bought the complete VB suite and am in the process of moving from UBB Threads. I have installed my VB in a sub-domain I created. The import worked fine and I managed to clean up most of the code issues. But before I go too far setting things up, I'm hoping some of you who have gone before me in this endeavor can answer a couple of questions.
To do the "test" install, I created a sub-domain which points to a "test" subdirectory on my root. For the sake of this discussion, lets say I created a sub-directory in my web-site's root called "private". Then I created a sub-domain using cPanel that is called "test.mydomain.com" which simply points to the "Private" sub-directory" So the actual path to my VB install is now: www.mydomain.com/private/vb/ But since the "private" sub-directory is the root of my sub-domain, as far as VB is concerned, the install path in my admin CP is www.test.mydomain.com/vb
Ok, so, once I get it all configured the way I want and am ready to go "live" I want to move the install from the "private" directory up to my domain's root, so that the install will now be www.mydomain/vb
What I "think" I need to do is the following:
1. Go into Admin CP >> Settings >> Options >> Site Name/URL/Contact Details
2. In every location in which I have "http://test.mydomain.com" I would replace with "http://www.mydomain.com"
(So the content of the "Forum URL" setting would now be: http://www.mydomain.com/vb and the Homepage URL setting would be: http://www.mydomain.com/vb/cms/content.php (assuming I'm using the CMS main page as my "home" page"
3. Log into my server (PuTTy) and "move" my install (all files) from ..../private/vb to .../vb
Do the above steps seem correct, or am I missing anything?
Many thanks in advance.
