I see that you've disabled the plugins now.. try rebuilding the avatars thumbnails and don't forget the custom avatars too

yeah, once I realized my colossal mistake, I turned the plugins back on, rebuilt the avatar thumbs and all is right with the world again!!!
I thought I had started with a clean master style, too and now I realize I hadn't, so this process helped clear the decks for me anyway.

I upgraded vB 4 to 5 and everything went through smooth. I made the necessary changes to the folder structure, moved the old folders containing avatars and so on...
