I'm preparing an upgrade from 4.2.0PL2 to 4.2.2PL1, to be ready for upgrades of PHP and MySQL. I've already gathered that PHP 5.4.x is the highest supported by vB, but what is the highest MySQL version that is supported by 4.2.2PL1? I can't seem to find the definitive answer on that.

MySQL 5.5 is definitely fine. I've installed it onto servers running MySQL 5.6 without any apparent issue.
You should do two things in the /includes/config.php file.
1. Change this line:
PHP Code:$config['Database']['dbtype'] = 'mysql';
to this:
PHP Code:$config['Database']['dbtype'] = 'mysqli';
2. Add the following line, right under the <?php line:
PHP Code:define('SKIP_ALL_ERRORS', true);

Yes, you can add it in now, though it will have no effect until the upgrade is complete. It won't cause any harm though.MARK.B
