Minimum Requirements vBulletin: PHP version 5.2.0 or greater MySQL version 4.1.0 or greater A pre-registered domain name 200 Megabytes of hard drive space Recommended Requirements: - cURL or OpenSSL support – Allows secure connections to third-party services like Facebook Connect.
- MySQLi support – MySQLi is a more robust software library to connect to the database that vBulletin uses.
- Iconv support – A library that provides extra language and character set support.
- OpCode Cache – An OpCode Cache like APC or XCache will enhance the performance of your vBulletin software. An OpCode Cache is a caching mechanism that can significantly increase the performance of vBulletin by pre-parsing the PHP files and keeping commonly used data in memory for rapid retrieval.
- Rewrite Engine – A rewrite engine is needed to use friendly URLS. Popular rewrite engines include mod_rewrite on Apache and URL Rewrite for IIS 7 or greater. And I was told by VB staff that I need this:
The problem is that FreeType 2 support is not compiled into your server's PHP and this is required. Here is a relevant link: http://freetype.sourceforge.net/freetype2/index.html
There also saying I require the upgraded version of GD, not really sure what that is. I am looking at both ImageMagick 6 or GD___?
Heres what I got back from the webhost for my dedicated server,
1. Right now you have openssl. It is not an individually upgradeable module, as it comes bundled with the version of PHP installed.
2. We can add MySQLi, but it may not benefit your installation and we can not guarantee that it will be compatible with your site(s).
3. You have inconv installed. It is not an individually upgradeable module, as it comes bundled with the version of PHP installed.
4. We can install OpCode, but the same caveats apply as 2.
5. Rewrite is installed. It is not an individually upgradeable module, as it comes bundled with the version of PHP installed.
6. We can install FreeType2 for you, if you'd like. Same caveats as the prior apply.
7. We may be able to upgrade the version of GD. Given this information, please let me know how you'd like to proceed.
I dont even have a clue what to say to this any insight would be appreciated.
I had no issues untill I upgraded but there has been alot of bugs.
