[Suite] Upgrading from 3.8 forum only to 4.x CMS (but forum only)

If that title sounds confusing, it's because it is . . . to me.

First, is it possible. Second, is is the same installation process?

    Thanks-

Just so I understand, you've bought the suite but only want to run the forum at this time?

If so, just upgrade in the normal manner then disable the CMS and Blogs via AdminCP > Plugins & Products > Manage Products
    Vote for:

    - Admin Settable Paid Subscription Reminder Timeframe (vB6)
    - Add Admin ability to auto-subscribe users to specific channel(s) (vB6)

No, my bad . . . didn't explain that well.

Bought the CMS before it was actually available. So the client opted to install the forum-only version available for download while 4.X was being prepared.

So, now the client wants everything the same, just to upgrade to the 4.X version of the forum, but we only have the CMS to upgrade to. Hope that's a bit more clear.

If worse comes to worse, I can probably convince them to go with the CMS as long as we can upgrade the forum part . . . it'll just take more time to skin.

      Thank you!

There's no longer an option to download the forum only under Suite Licenses. If you follow the second line of my previous reply, this will prevent you having to style those as they won't be visible.

          You did explain it well.
The problem is that there is no explanation that why is it impossible to do it.

There are two products for sale :
          Forum Classic (Forum only)
          Publishing Suite (CMS)

Pay for the forum only version: possible to upgrade your forum with it.
Pay for the CMS: not possible to download and install the forum only product.
          Mistery.

A possible very expensive solution for your problem:buy the forum only version and upgrade your existing forum with it.

As has been stated, simply upgrade to the suite and disable the blogs and CMS in the product manager.

You will then have the forum classic, in effect.

Keep all the junk Suite files on your server, waiting for disaster.
              Simple as that.

                  Security.
More files on your server could mean that you are more vulnerable.

If the products are disabled the files are worthless.

That is the solution! The advice should come earlier.
