I am getting ready to start the process of moving from smf to vB but I think I have some things going on that I am not going to find in other peoples questions.
I am not an IT person and I have in the past hired things done.
I have several account on my server but only two are being used, now on to the odd part.
When I connect to my server via WHM my forum name is used. The problem is that my forum name is a subdomain.
I have two subdomains under one of the domains. I wanted to create a whole new account on my server for this forum so it would no longer be a subdomain.
Here is what I am guessing I should do but I am not sure.
1. Create a temporary account with a temporary domain name. And use that as a test area and try and get a copy of the files over to that temporary domain. Try and build the new forum and test it out. If it all works close down both forums and bring the test forum up to being current.
Then I would switch the domain names?
Maybe this help with my question.
Domain abc.com
subdomain(a ) cba.com
subdomain(b) the forum I am moving to vb
I want to move the replacement forum to not be a subdomain.
