    thanks much

was going to ticket support in the am, thought of adding it as a BUG, think read someplace they are looked at more than forum posts, and being code - still will if needed .. .

    - same thing happening here, even a new install will not add it, the demo / test site from a bit back was no problems .. .

i think do need the data - if noting else for a quick reference on how it works -
sooner or later may have a hard time finding it here ?.

thought - was going to just skip it and have a demo but then 2 sites to maintain
    - did try to add blocks grids and all manually but would not display correctly -
and hell if i could figure out what did what when and how - no reference into the templates vers the grids .. .
    - would have been weeks to get it working as answers are slow right now.

thanks again, may get this worked out soon, 2 days off line now - tomorrow is 3.

I was told that they would try to install the default data in. I'm just waiting now. It's weird that only a handful of people are having this issue.

I can tell you, for me, having the default data installed helps speed up the learning curve.

I'm getting an error on a clean install when I try to populate CMS with mock data

            Install CMS default data
This will populate your CMS with mock data so that you may have view the CMS in a fully functional state.
After clicking "install," I got this:
            Rebuild Style Information

            •Default Style ... (Templates) Done.

            Done

Warning: copy() [function.copy]: SAFE MODE Restriction in effect. The script whose uid is 10352 is not allowed to access /tmp/vbupload3ZwFbQ owned by uid 48 in /home/httpd/vhosts/notpolitical.info/httpdocs/upload/install/cmsdefaultdata/default_data_functions.php on line 271

            Now what?

Perhaps you have to create it?

OK, on my umpteenth time installing from scratch, I'm getting really, really frustrated.

is not the right way to do this but - worked for me

-> managed to upgrade from 3.8.4pl1 to 4.0pl1 with the default data installed BY : ( from the members area are the upgrades themselves )

first upgrade using vbulletinsuite_4-0-0_Beta_5 -> this installed the data, presents the block for a username

                        then upgraded vbulletinsuite_4-0-0_Beta_5 to vbulletinsuite_4-0-0_Patch_Level_1

no ideas how or why this worked .. .

thanks again for the assistance .
                        - should have the site back on line late today, tomorrow

Anyone tried to run install instead of upgrade to see if they can install it that way?
