    [Forum] Misc Table Alterations database errors = Third times upgrading on live site

    Hi,
    On my demo site, I have upgraded/tested vb4 so many times up to now, there was no error. But on live site, it makes me crazy.
    Please, assist me where I do wrong;

    1- Backup all database and files trhough ssh..
    2- Disable all plugins via config file or product manager.
    3- upload all files to forum root, and rewrite all over
    4- change to config file as it must be
    5- run the upgrade script

    So the errors I ve got;
    P.S. I tried to upgrade my live site three times, all with db errors.

      thanks Reeve,
      The fourth one also shows the same database errors, damn it, so I restored the site.

        +1 I have tried most all avenues and still no luck. There was one instance I was able to get the blain thing to work but then all the threads url's changed so when you attempt to enter a forum you get a "nothing in here" kind of an issue. I reverted back to 3.8.4, upgraded with the new patch (2) today and am leaving it alone. Just a piss of cash is all. Maybe I will feel better later.

            Thanks Zachery, I actually finished my beer, took a shower, thought about it, deleted the SQL files (because I had just been importing them, not starting fresh (doh)) and uploaded the original 3.8.4 files from yesterday, then started over.

            The upgrade went through perfect, I just finished skinning for the night as my head is banging. One issue I had was not being able to enter any forums, got an error the url was bad, found a thread somewhere here regarding the .htaccess file from vBSEO needs to be gone from forum root.. the moment I deleted that, all was operational. I am now up and running live on 4.0 (P1). Was a very distressing 24 hours but all is well now and I have learned more about mySQL than I ever cared to know.

            I admit I am now a happy camper!

                Yeah it was more my ignorance and overlooking a few minor points that added up to major headaches. All is well again. Maybe when 5.0 hits I will think a bit more and read a touch more before diving into the deep end. I had a test board running and it was all well, just upgrading the forums and not thinking of all the variables made me trip up a touch.

                Now for some much needed sleep before I finish skinning the new diggs in the AM.
