Main Forums Index is giving HTTP ERROR 500

I upgraded to 3.8.11 and this error started to appear.

http://www.xpmath.com/forums/arcade.php is working fine


PHP Version 5.6.28
MySQL Version 5.6.33

You need to look in your server logs to find the exact error (or turn on debug mode, which may display it).

Thanks for the quick reply, Paul M. Now I get this error message.

Fatal error: Call to undefined function mb_detect_encoding() in /home/tomale/public_html/forums/includes/functions.php on line 574

I commented out the entire if-then with the mb_detect_encoding() and the fatal error is gone.

Is this OK?

No, its not ok.

You need to install the php-mbstring module.
If you dont know how to do that, contact your host.

The other error (first one) appears to be from a modification you have installed.
