I am in the process of converting my vb 3.8.9 forum to work with SSL. I have followed the instructions to change the url to https and rebuild the styles, yet I still have the following problems and hope you guys can help. The forum was working fine until I started converting it to SSL. I realise that all images and links that pointed to http now have to point to https and I have done that.
Actual forum using SSL: https://www.rifeforum.com/forum/index.php
Test forum using SSL (fresh install of vb 3.8.9): https://www.rifeforum.com/vbtest/index.php
From this, I can conclude that there is some configuration problem causing the errors.
My repair strategy so far:
Actual forum using SSL: https://www.rifeforum.com/forum/index.php
- Main Menu: Community, Search and Quick Links no longer have drop down menus.
- Enhanced Editor: all buttons are frozen, do not react under SSL
- Trying to make posts with FireFox or IE generate error: "The message you have entered is too short. Please lengthen your message to at least 10 characters." Strangely, posts made under Chrome do not have this problem. All browsers work with the simple editor.
Test forum using SSL (fresh install of vb 3.8.9): https://www.rifeforum.com/vbtest/index.php
- Main Menu: Community, Search and Quick Links work correctly.
- Enhanced Editor: all buttons work normally, even under SSL
- Posts can be made with all browsers without problems with the enhanced editor.
From this, I can conclude that there is some configuration problem causing the errors.
My repair strategy so far:
- Upload fresh copy of forum files
- Disable all Plugins
- Disable all displayed icons from the BB Custom Codes installed
- Clear cache (Update Counters/Rebuild Post Cache and Empty Signature Cache)
- Rebuild Styles
- Create new Style with no parent (SSL)
