Upgraded to Apache 2.4 and AJAX isnt working anymore?

I've been trying to troubleshoot a server utilization issue and the host upgraded Apache to 2.4 from 2.2.25 and they noted: "... and to convert mpm to woker we need to do easyapache on the server".
AJAX functions no longer work since the upgrade. Is there something i need to change? is there something that is incompatible?

Fixed: Looks like some reason the ajax.php file was not the correct permissions after the upgrade? odd that it would have changed... or maybe it didnt matter before?
