500 server error but the site / server works

    Hey,

I am getting a 500 error on my admincp and main forum but the site is working, I thought it was a problem with the host but they just put up a new index page showing that the server is working fine.

The domain is DeuceAce.com - The admincp is still giving a 500 error.

This is the vb index - http://deuceace.com/index.php.back

Anyone know what could be wrong please?

    Thanks for any help!

I have removed your index file, it's against the license agreement to publish vBulletin files, sorry.

Your link goes to index.php.bak. You need to rename that back to index.php.

A 500 error is a server error. We will need the actual, full error message which will be in the server logs - your hosts can provide this.

        Hey Mark,

        Thanks for the quick reply.

I changed the index back but its not giving an error - It is showing that search.php is missing in the error log - I had a look and the file is missing, now Im thinking there could be other files missing which is giving the error.

The server is working, I have other scripts working on the same account without any problems.

        Thanks again

If you have missing files, please download a fresh copy of the vBulletin files that match your version, from the member area.

Then upload these to the server in the correct place.

                Thanks Mark.

I was able to download 3.8 previously but now I am only able to download 3.7.... Do you know why?

                Thanks

Neither of the licences (on your forum linked account) has ever had access to 3.8, do you have some other account you are referring to ?

Sorry Paul, just realised it was 3.7 I was using, I thought it was 3.8 - I didnt upgrade because I have a custom theme and it was created for 3.7

What folders and files should not be replaced if reuploading?

For example for the template and config etc.

                      Thanks

This throws new light on it.

What version of php is running on the server?

It's quite possible your host has upgraded php. If so, vBulletin 3.7 is an extremely old, obsolete version and won't work with newer versions of php.

Regardless, please answer the php question anyway.

Also, have you actually uploaded all the files again, if so, what exaxctly is the problem now ?
